I got a nice email from Mr. McInerny that I thought I'd share:
"Mr. Pierce,
Very impressive!!! Love the look and read of the iSting. You all do excellent work...I'm going to insist that all Stop Drop and Read students Period 1 on Friday read the entire edition, then tell me about what they've read. Kudos to all involved. Can't wait for the next edition. I'll see if some photo students will climb on board.
Mac"
Now, I thought it might be good to post all kinds of feedback here, not just the positive stuff. I think the reason that this issue is better is because we took into account the constructive criticism from the first issue.
I would welcome any and all feedback, repeat whatever you hear. The next "change" I could see us moving toward would be in terms of content. We've got some great serious stuff... I'd like to put something in a little lighter in the next issue.
Any ideas for a fun piece? Like a top 10 list maybe? How about "Top 10 Signs You're Hornet?" We could even work collaboratively on that.
Ok...so the next issue is Remembrance Day (should come out on the 15th). What assignments can people commit to? Who is on Psycho again? Who can write up the Remembrance Day assembly? Is there anything else?
I think that somehow we need to advertise more. I don't know anyone who has read either issue. Tomorrow I'm going to take some notes at the grac
ReplyDeleteDe eight day or whatever it's called. I might write an article depending on whether or not I can dish out anything interesting. If I come up with any more ideas I'll let y'all know. :)
Hello. I told Mrs. Janik that I would write something about "Movember" so I will do that for the November 15th issue.
ReplyDeleteOh and I will also write something about the student teachers too.
ReplyDeleteGreat, Mr. Fife. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Kaye. We had to make sure we had a viable product before we began flogging it, but now that we do...let's flog away.
I will be printing colour copies of our first 2 issues and posting them on the bulletin board at the top of the tech ramp... that will give us an in-school presence...
Anyhow... you know the saying, "If you build it, they will come." Let's keep building...
Oh...and we have decent Facebook presence too.
ReplyDeleteBut, just for you, I'll do an announcement in the am. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of articles do you want for the Rememberance Day Assembly?
ReplyDeleteWell...
ReplyDeleteI believe the most important aspect of it will be coverage of the assembly, and by the time "we" cover the music, the various drama presentations, the speaker(s) and any video presentations, there should be quite a bit.
If "we" are looking to do more, we could talk to some of the teachers and students ahead of time to find out a little bit about their plans, but I get the sense that we don't necessarily need this, with so much else talking place.
I would like to take on this article if that's ok :)
